HOW DO I PARTICIPATE?

First, you’ll choose which team you want to be on. Team Bloomin’ Spindle, Team Cog Cycles, or Team Evanston Stitchworks.

Then choose/preorder your yarn & weigh in once game play kicks off on April 26th!

WHAT TYPE OF YARN CAN I USE? CAN I USE SOMETHING FROM MY STASH?

You are welcome to use any stash yarn you have. If you use one of the official Crosstown yarns, you'll get double the base hits with every weigh in which gives you a better chance at winning the MVC (Most Valuable Crafter)!

DOES IT HAVE TO BE A CERTAIN WEIGHT YARN?

You are welcome to use any fingering, dk, or worsted weight yarn to qualify for base hits.

For every 15g stitched using fingering or 30g stitched using dk/worsted weight yarn you’ll earn a base hit for that week.

if you’re using another weight of stash yarn enter in these corresponding weights:

lace = fingering weight

sport = dk weight

aran = worsted weight

HOW DO I PREORDER YARN?

visit your team’s store/website or call to preorder the colorway/bases you’d like to use at kick off.

preorders placed by 4/19 will be available at your team’s lys on 4/26 for kick off.

after 4/19, each shop will be taking orders as they normally do, but delivery by 4/26 cannot be guaranteed.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? DO I HAVE TO BE A KNITTER?

Any knitter, crocheter, weaver, bargello enthusiast can join the roster & qualify for base hits no matter your skillset!

DO I HAVE TO BE MAKING A CERTAIN PATTERN?

Stitchers choice! Work on whatever project you’d like to qualify for base hits as long as you’re using fingering, dk, or worsted weigh yarn!

DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN CHICAGO?

Nope! We’d love for you to join in no matter where you’re stitching from! Weigh ins can be submitted via our google form every week to qualify for base hits.

WHAT DO I WIN?

Each shop will have a mid-season MVC (5/17) and a final mvc (6/7). additionally The player with the most base hits/runs overall at the end of season (june 7th) will win the grand prize: tba!

HOW DO I WEIGH IN?

If you want to be counted towards MVC status for mid-season please submit via the google form by Saturday 5/16, mvc for each shop will be announced 5pm cdt sunday 5/17.

HOW DO I GET THE BONUS?

There are 2 ways to receive a bonus towards your base hits. The 1st is by using official Crosstown yarn (any team’s color, and year). When using official Crosstown colors, you’ll receive 2x the base hits for that project.

The 2nd is by posting a picture of your progress to Instagram (story, post, or reel) and tagging @gnome_depot_fiber as well as your team shop’s Instagram account:

Your profile will need to be public to qualify for this bonus or we won’t be able to see your post/story. When you post your progress, you’ll receive +1 additional run. you’ll receive 1 bonus run for entries submitted 4/26-5/16 (mid-season) and 1 bonus run for entries submitted 5/17-6/6.

If your account is not public, you can email a photo to hello@gnomedepotfiber.com with your name/team and it will be posted for you. please only do this once each per qualifying time frame.

CAN I WEIGH IN MORE THAN 1 PROJECT?

Absolutely! As long as your project is using fingering, dk, or worsted weight yarn, you can weigh in for base hits.
